The Tolland Historical Society has raised $5,570 to date in its fundraising drive that coincides with this year’s 50th anniversary celebration.
The donations include a generous $3,000 gift from David Garrity, in honor of his parents, the late Harold Garrity and the late Arlyne Garrity. Mrs. Garrity was the first president of the Tolland Historical Society in 1966 and Mr. Garrity offered his legal services to help establish the Society.
Their contributions to the formation of the Society will be recognized on June 3, 2017 when the Society holds “Arlyne’s Gold: the Tolland Historical Society 50th Anniversary Gala” from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Hicks-Stearns Museum on the historic Tolland Green. For more details, email Gala Chairwoman Celeste Senechal at celestesene5@gmail.com.
Donations are still be accepted to support the preservation of our three beloved museums: the Daniel Benton Homestead, the Old Tolland County Court House and the Old Tolland County Jail and Museum. The funds raised will also support our programs, including the annual Tolland Green Day, on which Tolland third graders visit the museums and the green to learn all about local history.
As 2016 ends, please consider making a tax-deductible gift to the Society. Donations can be mailed to the Tolland Historical Society, P.O. Box 107, Tolland, CT 06084.
The Society wishes you and your family a warm, safe and happy holiday season.
